Invitation for North American Experts to Review Draft ANSI/HI 1.4 Standard on Rotodynamic Pumps

The Hydraulic Institute (HI), under the approval of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), invites qualified professionals across North America to review the draft of the updated ANSI/HI 1.4 standard: Rotodynamic (Centrifugal) Pumps for Manuals Describing Installation, Operation, and Maintenance.

This standard covers two key pump categories:

  1. Rotodynamic (Centrifugal) pumps
  2. Rotodynamic (Vertical) pumps

The document’s objectives are:

  1. Define a uniform format for Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manuals, outlining essential topics for each pump type.
  2. Update and align the existing ANSI/HI 1.4 with the new format, specifically addressing horizontal centrifugal pumps.

We are actively compiling a canvass list of stakeholders directly impacted by this standard—pump users, specifiers, manufacturers, standards developers, government agencies, and industry groups. This list will be submitted to ANSI to satisfy open canvass requirements.

To join the canvass, please contact Karen Anderson, Administrator of Technical Affairs, at kanderson@Pumps.org or call 973‑267‑9700, ext. 123.

HI Pump Standards are trusted references for the entire pump ecosystem—including users, consultants, contractors, construction firms, and manufacturers of pumps, seals, motors, instrumentation, controls, software, and systems integration. We continually update our standards to reflect evolving industry needs.
