Siemens Secures 10-Year Service Deal for Minnesota Power’s Bison Wind Energy Center

Siemens has entered into a comprehensive 10‑year service and maintenance agreement with Minnesota Power, covering 149 Siemens D3 wind turbines at the Bison Wind Energy Center in North Dakota.
The contract encompasses turbines from the first three phases of the Bison complex, as well as Phase 4, which began operations in January 2015. Together, these units provide nearly 500 MW of clean energy.
With a 465‑mile, high‑capacity direct‑current transmission line, the Bison complex delivers power from the Square Butte Substation in Center, North Dakota, to Minnesota Power’s Arrowhead substation near Duluth, Minnesota, reinforcing the state’s renewable grid.
“Siemens and Minnesota Power have a long history of working together, and this is a continuation of our ongoing collaboration,” said Mark Albenze, CEO of Siemens Wind Service and Renewables. “As a committed supporter of renewable energy, Minnesota Power boasts the largest fleet of Siemens D3 turbines in the U.S. We look forward to enhancing their reliability, affordability, and sustainability.”
Siemens already manages service and maintenance for more than 3,700 turbines across the Americas and over 9,000 worldwide, generating a combined capacity of roughly 22 GW.
