World Water Day: Advancing Clean Water Through Global Initiatives

In 1984, two Atlas Copco employees were inspired by a film documenting the devastating effects of a drought in Peru. The documentary motivated the two employees to take action, and shortly thereafter, they asked for the support of their colleagues to help provide clean water to Peru’s drought-stricken areas. This was the start of Water for All.

Today, our Water for All initiative is a community engagement program that provides clean drinking water and sanitation for those in need. Since its inception, Water for All has helped close to two million people in over 50 countries.

Water for All continues to be funded by Atlas Copco employees on a voluntary basis. Our employees elect to have donations deducted from their monthly paychecks to go towards this cause. For every contribution, Atlas Copco now matches the donation by two hundred percent. We’re excited about the program’s progress, it’s continuation and the additional partnerships we’ve taken on in our commitment to providing clean water for communities in need.

Today, we’re joining our friends around the globe in celebrating and recognizing World Water Day. It’s a reminder that close to 844 million people worldwide still do not have access to a basic drinking-water service, and there’s work to be done.
