MACOM Launches MAAL‑011151: Ultra‑Low Phase Noise Amplifier for High‑Precision Signal Generation
MACOM Technology Solutions has introduced the MAAL‑011151, the inaugural member of its new wide‑band, ultra‑low phase noise amplifier family. Offered in a compact 2.8 × 1.73 × 0.1 mm bare‑die or a 5 × 5 mm, 32‑lead AQFN package, the device is engineered for use as a low‑phase‑noise amplification stage in signal‑generation systems across test & measurement, electronic warfare, electronic counter‑measures, and radar applications.
Phase noise directly impacts a signal source’s frequency stability and, consequently, receiver sensitivity. By delivering exceptionally low phase‑noise performance while amplifying the local oscillator (LO) signal, the MAAL‑011151 preserves spectral purity across test & measurement, communications, radar target acquisition, and aerospace & defense systems.
Key specifications include 16 dB of linear gain over 2–18 GHz, 17.5 dBm P1dB, and a 5 dB noise figure at 10 GHz. Both input and output ports are 50 Ω matched and DC‑blocked. The device offers flexible control via a dedicated control circuit or direct bias injection, and it is manufactured on a low‑phase‑noise HBT process with full passivation, ensuring long‑term reliability.
