IIC and OpenFog Consolidate to Accelerate Industrial IoT, Fog, and Edge Computing

The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and the OpenFog Consortium have officially merged, uniting the two largest and most influential global consortia in Industrial IoT, fog, and edge computing. Under the IIC umbrella, the combined organization will spearhead industry guidance, best‑practice development, and accelerated innovation across the industrial internet landscape.

OpenFog members now join IIC as the industry converges on fog and edge technologies. The inaugural joint meeting of the unified consortium will take place in Raleigh, N.C., from February 11–14.

Reflecting the merger’s strategic importance, the IIC Steering Committee has appointed two OpenFog leaders:

The IIC, now incorporating OpenFog, remains the world’s leading membership program that transforms business and society by accelerating the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The consortium delivers a trustworthy IIoT ecosystem, ensuring secure connectivity and control of global systems and devices for transformational outcomes. IIC operates as a program of the Object Management Group (OMG).
