IIC and OpenFog Consortium to Merge, Strengthening Global Industrial IoT, Fog, and Edge Computing Standards
On [date], the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and the OpenFog Consortium announced a strategic alliance that will bring the two largest and most influential organizations in Industrial IoT, fog, and edge computing together. The partnership integrates OpenFog members into IIC’s membership structure, aligning their complementary technologies as they enter mainstream adoption.
Through this collaboration, the combined membership will continue to accelerate the development and promotion of industry guidance and best practices for fog and edge computing. Both consortia expect to finalize the details of the merger in early 2019.

OpenFog, founded in 2016, focuses on advancing fog computing to address bandwidth, latency, and communication challenges associated with IoT, 5G, and AI applications.
