TDK Unveils Cutting‑Edge Embedded Tech Innovations at Embedded World 2019

At Embedded World 2019, TDK showcased a suite of breakthrough products across its portfolio, highlighting the company’s leadership in embedded technologies. The event brought together TDK‑Micronas, TDK‑Lambda, TDK Europe, and InvenSense, each presenting solutions that span magnetic sensors, motor control, power supplies, IoT components, and MEMS sensor systems.

TDK‑Micronas: Smart Motor Control & Magnetic Sensing

The HVC 4420F microcontroller delivers direct drive capability for small brush‑type, stepper, and brushless motors—ideal for next‑generation smart actuators. With 64 KB of flash and 4 KB of SRAM, it exceeds the memory demands of modern diagnostic routines, enabling OEMs to implement advanced sensor‑fusion algorithms and actuator‑status monitoring without additional processors. Its integrated diagnostic feature set and expanded storage make it uniquely suited for autonomous actuator systems. TDK‑Micronas also highlighted an extensive Hall‑effect magnetic field sensor line tailored for automotive and industrial markets.

TDK‑Lambda: High‑Density Programmable Power Supplies

Leveraging digital signal‑processing technology, the Genesys+ series redefines programmable DC power supply performance. The flagship 5 kW model fits into a single‑U rack, measures 19 inches (483 mm) wide, and weighs under 7.5 kg—setting new industry standards for power density and portability. Applications span component testing, aerospace, automotive, semiconductor fabrication, water treatment, electroplating, and solar array simulation. In addition, the GXE600 line offers 600 W AC‑DC supplies in a 1U form factor, featuring convection cooling and full digital programmability for fixed‑output (24 V/48 V) or constant‑voltage/current (CVCC) operation.

TDK Europe: IoT Components & the CeraCharge Battery

TDK Europe’s IoT showcase covered a broad array of passive components—including RF parts, multilayer and thin‑film inductors, ceramic capacitors, SESUB modules, piezo actuators with haptic feedback, and wireless charging coils. A highlight was the live demo of CeraCharge, the world’s first solid‑state SMD rechargeable battery. Combining high energy density with the safety and manufacturability of ceramic multilayer technology, CeraCharge offers a compact, reliable power source for a wide spectrum of IoT devices.

InvenSense: Advanced MEMS Sensors & Firmware Intelligence

InvenSense demonstrated how its MEMS accelerometers, gyroscopes, compasses, microphones, and ultrasonic 3D‑sensing modules can be fused with proprietary algorithms to deliver unprecedented accuracy and performance. Showcases included capacitive pressure sensors, analog and digital MEMS microphones, a new digital ultrasound transceiver, a 6‑DoF controller‑tracking system, and the UltraPrint ultrasound fingerprint touch sensor—each designed for mobile and IoT applications.
