Omron E3AS‑F Photoelectric Sensors Achieve 1.5‑Meter Time‑of‑Flight Detection

Omron’s E3AS‑F series reflective‑type photoelectric sensors leverage time‑of‑flight detection to reach up to 1.5 m—five times the range of earlier models. The time‑of‑flight algorithm delivers consistent detection regardless of target color, material, or surface finish, and remains stable across varying distances.
The sensors allow the sensing distance to be set from 50 mm to 1,500 mm, eliminating the need to source different models for each application. A single‑button teaching function lets users easily configure optimal threshold values. An antifouling coating on the sensor head reduces false alarms and cuts maintenance in oil, dust, or steam‑laden environments.
Available in compact metal or plastic housings, the E3AS‑F series can be mounted in virtually any location. With environmental ratings of IP67, IP69K, and IP67G, they are suited for a wide range of industrial settings.
