Kontron has unveiled the SMARC‑sXAL4 (E2) module, a compact industrial‑grade solution that supports Intel Atom, Pentium and Celeron processors from the latest generation. Measuring just 82 mm × 50 mm, the E2 variant operates reliably across an extended temperature range of –40 °C to +85 °C, making it ideal for demanding industrial IoT and Industry 4.0 deployments.

The module is offered in five configurations, ranging from Dual‑Core to Quad‑Core CPUs, and complements Kontron’s existing SMARC‑sXAL (E2) platform that uses DDR3 ECC memory. This breadth of options enables customers to tailor solutions to any Intel‑based IoT workload.

The SMARC‑sXAL4 runs on Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 IoT, Linux, and VxWorks. Its 5 V VCC input does not support wide‑range voltage, simplifying power design.

Security is reinforced with Kontron APPROTECT, powered by Wibu‑Systems CodeMeter, which facilitates advanced licensing models such as pay‑per‑use and time‑based trials.
