Shield96: Arrow’s Secure Linux Board Cuts IoT Edge Time‑to‑Market by 6 Months
Arrow Electronics introduces the Shield96, a turnkey Linux platform pre‑loaded with Sequitur Labs’ EmSPARK Security Suite, designed to secure IoT edge devices from day one. By integrating security on board, the solution can accelerate time‑to‑market by at least six months, Arrow explains.
The Shield96 is powered by a Microchip Technology SAMA5D2 processor System‑in‑Package (SiP) that houses an ARM Cortex‑A5 micro‑processor unit and 1 GB of DDR2 RAM. Its hardware‑based security stack includes ARM TrustZone, tamper‑detection circuitry, secure boot, encrypted storage, and dedicated cryptographic accelerators.

The EmSPARK Security Suite safeguards firmware, cryptographic keys, and other security‑critical assets. It works hand‑in‑hand with the board’s native security features and supplies tools for secure device provisioning, as well as APIs for secure storage, over‑the‑air firmware updates, and payload verification, Arrow says.
Ideal for proof‑of‑concept, development, and testing, the Shield96 also serves as a gateway to Arrow’s end‑to‑end services. These include hardware and software design support, application development, scalable cloud or on‑premises analytics, dashboard creation, and end‑to‑end provisioning to help customers build production‑ready systems.
Arrow will showcase the Shield96 at Embedded World 2020 (Booth 340, Hall 4A) in February. In addition, Arrow, Microchip Technology, and Sequitur Labs will host the webinar “Simplified Security for Endpoint Solutions” on February 18, 2020.
