ADLINK Launches NEON‑1000‑MDX: A Turnkey Edge AI Smart Camera for Rapid Industrial Vision Deployment

ADLINK Technology introduces the NEON‑1000‑MDX, a turnkey smart camera that accelerates the integration and deployment of machine‑vision AI in industrial automation.

The NEON‑1000‑MDX series, paired with ADLINK’s Smart Pallet platform, harnesses the Intel Movidius Myriad X VPU and OpenVINO‑optimized inference models. Combined with ADLINK’s Edge Vision software, the package delivers ready‑to‑use AI vision capabilities that can be embedded into existing production lines without extensive wiring or custom hardware.

With the Myriad X VPU, machine‑learning models run at the edge, while the pre‑installed EVA (Edge Vision Analytics) SDK lets users deploy OpenVINO‑optimized neural networks with minimal coding. A library of plug‑ins supports diverse environments and system requirements, enabling rapid prototyping and field deployment.

The all‑in‑one NEON‑1000‑MDX excels at product classification and defect detection, boosting production efficiency in smart manufacturing. The Smart Pallet solution adds intelligence to warehouse workflows—receiving, bin picking, packing, shipping, and worker safety—by capturing multiple image streams and executing high‑performance inference on the edge.

ADLINK’s Edge software platform unifies connectivity across clouds, machine‑learning frameworks, industrial cameras, and legacy machinery, regardless of vendor. Its AI vision engine classifies visual data, learns over time, and orchestrates automation workflows, empowering developers to create scalable solutions.

“The pressure to ramp up production is higher than ever,” says Kevin Hsu, senior product manager of ADLINK’s IoT solutions. “Machine‑vision AI offers the quickest, easiest, and most cost‑effective path to automation without disrupting existing workflows. Our Smart Pallet solution has cut barcode‑scanning time by 90% and supports customized, built‑to‑order pallets with no line changes beyond installing the smart camera.”

For instance, if a conveyor detects a mis‑packaged box, the system can alert the sorter to divert the item to a re‑check area. ADLINK’s platform delivers intuitive programming, automation, and device management directly on the powerful NEON‑1000‑MDX smart camera, simplifying maintenance and expanding AI workloads.
