On November 2, 2016, Warren Kurisu, Director of Product Management at Mentor Graphics, and I will discuss how to embed reliability and security into Industrial IoT (IIoT) deployments. These qualities are essential, yet the sheer scale of IIoT networks often turns implementation into a daunting task. By applying the right principles, the challenge becomes manageable.
We will explore the complexities of scaling large, heterogeneous systems and demonstrate how a layered databus architecture can simultaneously address security and scalability. The discussion will also touch on the Industrial Internet Consortium’s recent initiatives—specifically the Industrial Internet Security Framework (IISF) and the Industrial Internet Reference Architecture (IIRA).

At the same time, RTI is pioneering standards‑based data‑flow security and the connectivity framework—known as a databus—that underpins the IIoT ecosystem.
