What is IXON Cloud?

IXON Cloud is a cloud‑based SaaS platform that simplifies industrial remote access and IIoT for machine manufacturers and system integrators. By offering instant VPN, web‑based VNC, and HTTP(S) access, it turns any PLC, HMI, PC, robot, or IP camera into a secure, remotely manageable asset.

With IXON Cloud you can elevate your service and business operations—deliver faster support, unlock new revenue models, and transform a simple machine into a cloud‑powered platform that sets you apart from the competition.

IXON compared to other remote access solutions: What are the differences?

IXON Cloud is a full‑service, web‑based platform that requires no code, offers unlimited users, and integrates connectivity out of the box. It also provides optional premium branding and white‑labeling, setting it apart from most competitors.

Read our blog to learn why customers switched to IXON.

Is IXON PLC or HMI independent?

Yes. IXON supports any PLC, HMI, PC, robot, IP camera, or industrial device that offers VNC or a web server. The IXON VPN works on Windows, macOS, and Linux, while Cloud Access delivers a browser‑only experience.

Can I log machine data locally?

The IXrouter ships with 8 GB of local flash memory, enabling continuous data logging even when offline. Once connectivity returns, data is automatically pushed to the IXON Cloud.

Can I implement predictive maintenance using IXON Cloud?

IXON Cloud offers Cloud Notify and Cloud Logging for real‑time alarms and dashboards. It does not include AI; however, its open REST API lets you integrate third‑party predictive analytics solutions.

Can I receive alarms via SMS?

By default, IXON Cloud sends email and push notifications. SMS can be added by routing alerts through webhooks to services such as PagerDuty, Zapier, or custom applications.

User management: how does it work?

User management is unlimited and free. Create a company account, invite users by email, and assign roles and permissions through the portal. For detailed instructions, see our support portal.

What about the security of IXON Cloud?

Security is our top priority. IXON’s approach follows the CIA triad—confidentiality, integrity, availability—and is underpinned by an ISO 27001‑certified Information Security Management System (ISMS). This covers access control, cybersecurity, compliance, risk management, and business continuity.

"Machine builders entrust us with critical data and it is our number one priority to protect this data at all costs, and make sure that it’s always available. We created an ISO 27001 based ISMS in order to identify, prevent and defend any vulnerabilities that may arise. This systematic approach allows us to achieve our main goals: no security incidents, 99.9% uptime and no data loss." – Willem Hofmans, CEO at IXON

What if the internet connection drops or electricity is cut off during a firmware upgrade?

IXON firmware updates are designed to be fail‑safe. If connectivity is lost mid‑upgrade, the device reverts to the previous stable firmware. When connectivity is restored, you can resume the update with a single click—no on‑site intervention required.

Where is IXON located? And how long have you been around?

Founded in 2013, IXON is headquartered in Overloon, Netherlands. Everything—from design and manufacturing to development, marketing, and support—is handled in‑house. We serve a global customer base through an international field‑sales team and a network of distributors.

Founder Willem Hofmans previously customized software and electronics for machine builders under the name Wivion. After 100+ projects, he realized the complexity of cloud connectivity and founded IXON to make it simpler.

Where can I find the manual and faults during installation?

The user manual is available here. For installation issues, contact support via our portal or email support@ixon.cloud.
