Kordsa Unveils Kratos Structural Reinforcements for Concrete Retrofitting

On May 31, Kordsa (Istanbu, Turkey) held a digital launch for new products in its Kratos structural reinforcements product line, including Kratos C-fabric unidirectional (UD) carbon fiber fabric and Kratos C-plate pultruded carbon fiber strips.

According to Kordsa, Kratos structural reinforcement products are designed to retrofit reinforced concrete structures. In seismic retrofitting applications, these products are said to increase a structure’s load-bearing capacity and improve structural performance. For example, Kratos C-fabric with Kratos Prime resin is specifically used on reinforced concrete columns, shear wall and beam surfaces, with potential for use on concrete silos, bridges and viaducts, and natural gas or oil pipelines. Kratos C-plates with Kratos adhesive is used specifically for reinforced concrete beams and slabs.

The company also recently expanded its Kratos product range in 2020, with the addition of Kratos Rebound Minimizer, a shotcrete additive that reduces rebound in tunneling and mining applications, and Kratos Pool Fiber used in pool plaster applications.

According to Kordsa, its Kratos products stand out as the first Turkish products in the fiber reinforcement market, and that structural reinforcement is important for Turkey in terms of sustainability. Kordsa says reinforcing structures with its products saves time and costs compared to demolishing and rebuilding.

At the company’s May 31 digital launch meeting, company and industry leaders spoke about structural reinforcement technology and the company’s vision. Speakers included Kordsa CEO Ali Çalışkan, Kordsa Strategy and Business Development Director and Construction Business Unit Leader Fezal Okur Eskil, Professor Dr. Alper İlki of Istanbul Technical University, Kordsa Global Technology Director Devrim Özaydın and more.
