EN 10263-4: Grade 42CrMo4 Steel – Annealed for Spheroidized Carbides and Precision Turning

The cold-upsettable steel 42 CrMo 4 can be cold-formed according to the usual forming methods on single-stage and multi-stage presses. Because of its high carbon content, only low to medium forming degrees are recommendable. It is used for screws of strength class 10.9 in the thick and of strength class 12.9 in the medium to thin dimension range.
