EN 10277-3 Grade 35S20 – High-Strength, Ductile Quenched & Tempered Steel for Automotive & Machinery
The free cutting case hardening steel 35S20 is used for bulk parts of mean strength, especially if ductility demands in transversal direction are as high as for usual C-steels (e.g. C35). Cutting speed is increased but higher cracking risk according to rising C-content has to be considered. Application in car industry, apparatus, equipment and machine engineering (e.g. screws, nuts, small-size parts). As a bright steel product it is used in the form of bars, bright, straight, in various conditions (see DIN EN 10277 : 1999-10).
