EN 10277-3 Grade 11SMn37 Cold Drawn Steel – Premium Quality for Industrial Applications

Free cutting steel 11SMn37 is unsuitable for heat-treatment and is preferred steel 11SMn30 for higher requirements to machinability and surface appearance due to its higher S-content. For lower machinability demands it replaces the Pb-alloyed steel 11SMn30. Increased cracking sensitivity has to be considered. Therefore limited application for bulk parts in car industry as well as in apparatus and equipment engineering. As a bright steel product it is used in the form of bars, bright, straight, in various conditions (see DIN EN 10277 : 1999-10).
