Sky Advanced Materials Secures DNV‑GL Type Approval for Carbon‑Fiber Fabrics

Sky Advanced Materials Secures DNV‑GL Type Approval for Carbon‑Fiber Fabrics

Sky Advanced Materials (Fót, Hungary) announced on July 13 that it has earned DNV-GL type approval for its carbon fiber unidirectional and multiaxial fabrics. The type approval covers fabrics made with Zoltek (Bridgeton, Mo., U.S.) PX35 50k tow carbon fiber, sized for use with vinyl ester and epoxy resin matrix systems in infusion or hand lamination processes.

The certification is a general one, but broadly focused on composites use in wind turbine blades, marine vessels and similar industrial parts and structures.

Dietmar Hoffstedde, director sales and business development at Sky Advanced Materials, says, “Sky have worked diligently to earn this certification from DNV-GL. We are particularly excited by the strong mechanical properties achieved with use of the Zoltek PX35 fabric infused with vinyl ester.”

Says Kamal Al-Rawi, managing director of Sky Advanced Materials, “We expect that this certification will help Sky’s customers appreciate the quality and consistency of the fabrics we produce.”
