Eastman Introduces Recycled Copolyesters for Cosmetics at Luxe Pack Monaco
Eastman Chemical has unveiled two new recycled‑content specialty copolyesters at Luxe Pack Monaco (Sept. 30–Oct. 2), reinforcing its leadership in circular materials for cosmetics.
These innovations expand the Glass Polymer family, integrating Eastman’s proprietary recycling loops—mechanical recycling, carbon renewal technology (CRT) and advanced circular recycling (ACR)—to deliver high‑performance, sustainable cosmetic cases.
- Eastman Cristal Revēl copolyester: 15–50 % post‑consumer recycled PET blended with virgin copolyester. The material offers a spectrum of performance, aesthetic and sustainability options, and most products are compatible with existing PET recycling streams, enabling brands to close the loop.
- Eastman Trēva cellulose acetate propionate (CAP): A second‑generation engineering bioplastic identical in chemistry and look to its predecessor, now containing 23.5 % certified recycled content thanks to CRT.
- Carbon renewal technology (CRT): A chemical recycling process that transforms mixed plastic waste into simple molecules, which are re‑introduced into the manufacture of Trēva and other Eastman products.
- Advanced circular recycling (ACR): Methanolysis‑based chemistry that reprocesses colored PET and Eastman copolyesters into virgin‑like materials, allowing high‑percent recycled content in products such as Cristal EV600 without compromising performance, safety or aesthetics.
Mechanical recycling and CRT are already operating at scale; ACR is slated for full‑scale production within 24–36 months.
