Fynotej Secures Two Major Automotive Contracts for EconCore Thermoplastic Honeycomb Technology
Fynotej, a Mexico‑City based leader in non‑woven and honeycomb core panel manufacturing, has begun deploying Belgium’s EconCore thermoplastic honeycomb technology with two of the world’s largest automotive OEMs.
Fynotej secured contracts to deliver 120,000 m² of trunk‑floor panels over two years—half for a brand‑new, pre‑launch platform and half for an existing production line—using its Fynocore line. Fynocore, the continuous honeycomb panel technology licensed from EconCore, delivers superior strength, 30% lighter weight, and 30% recycled content, translating into fuel savings, lower CO₂ emissions, and a more sustainable supply chain.
EconCore COO Tomasz Czarnecki noted, “Our continuous extrusion of honeycomb sandwich panels—coupled with a wide selection of core and skin materials—offers immense optimization potential and unlocks a broad spectrum of applications.”
In automotive use, the panels feature a polypropylene core that outperforms pricier alternatives while remaining lighter. Fynotej’s proprietary inline lamination process thermally fuses the honeycomb panels with non‑woven automotive carpets—eliminating adhesives—and delivers additional cost savings.
Sales manager Fabiola Carbajal said, “The honeycomb technology’s lightweight, high‑strength profile is highly adaptable, allowing us to tailor panels to any specification—including complex compression‑molded geometries. We actively collaborate with OEMs and tier‑one suppliers from the design stage to embed our solutions early. As manufacturers shift toward electric and hybrid powertrains, light‑weighting is essential to extend range, and our products deliver both performance and cost competitiveness.”
Fynotej asserts that its product outperforms conventional panels while remaining cost‑effective. Its minimal thermoplastic use, combined with high recyclability and frequent incorporation of recycled material, aligns perfectly with sustainability trends.
Czarnecki added, “Fynotej’s deployment of EconCore technology across automotive, packaging, and construction sectors exemplifies its versatility. We will continue to support Fynotej as a licensee, driving further technological advancements and knowledge exchange.”
