Indorama Ventures Unveils First Certified Carbon‑Neutral PET Pellets

Indorama Ventures PCL (IVL), headquartered in Thailand with a U.S. office in Asheboro, N.C., has expanded its Deja sustainability portfolio by introducing Deja Carbon‑Neutral PET. This new product is the world’s first PET pellet that has earned certification for a neutral carbon footprint, marking a milestone in the company’s commitment to circular economy and climate action.

Deja Carbon‑Neutral PET pellets are produced across the entire supply chain using renewable electricity, recycled water, and a low‑impact transportation network. When unavoidable emissions arise, IVL offsets them through proven carbon removal projects, ensuring the final product achieves a net‑zero carbon profile. The pellets are available in 100 % virgin form or as a blend of virgin and post‑consumer recycled (PCR) PET. The PCR component is re‑introduced into the virgin PET polymerisation process, yielding a single‑grade pellet that matches the performance of conventional virgin PET.

Through its global Deja brand, IVL differentiates itself by offering a performance‑driven suite of sustainable ingredients that help customers meet stringent Scope 3 GHG targets while satisfying consumer demand for transparency and environmental responsibility. The company’s proprietary recycling ecosystem—rooted in facilities that transform post‑consumer PET bottles into flakes, rPET resins, and recycled polyester yarns across Europe, Mexico and Thailand—provides the unique capacity to close the loop.

In 2019, Indorama expanded its U.S. recycling footprint by acquiring Custom Polymers PET’s facility in Athens, Al., adding two production lines with a combined capacity of 68.3 million lbs per year. This acquisition strengthened IVL’s position as a leading provider of high‑quality, low‑carbon PET products in North America.

Aligned with its vision of becoming a world‑class chemical company, IVL has set an ambitious target of sourcing 25 % renewable electricity of total consumption by 2030 and has earmarked $1.5 billion to accelerate its sustainability agenda. Deja fibre and polymer offerings deliver high performance, versatility and reduced carbon footprints, making them suitable for hygiene, lifestyle, automotive and packaging applications that demand the highest standards.
