Benvic Expands into U.S. Medical Market by Acquiring Chemres
Frances’ specialty PVC compounder Benvic has entered the U.S. market by acquiring Chemres, a Princeton, N.J.-based custom compounder. With compounding operations in Chesapeake, Va., Chemres holds a strong position in the U.S. contact lens market and maintains long‑term relationships across medical, food, non‑food packaging, and wire & cable sectors. Its product line spans polyolefins, PS, PC, ABS, PBT, TPEs, and specialty grades such as PIR and PCR compounds.
Benvic has long focused on a broad range of PVC compounds and alloys for building & construction, wire & cable, packaging, fluid transfer, and electro‑technical equipment. In 2019 it acquired Modenplast Medical, an Italian firm specializing in medical‑grade PVC compounds and tubing extrusion. The following year, Benvic added Luc & Bel, a manufacturer of medical device components, and in 2021 it secured selected TPE and PP compounding assets from Celanese.
The acquisition positions Benvic firmly in the U.S. market and bolsters its presence in the medical sector, paving the way for Benvic to become a key global supplier in this domain. By combining its proven track record of innovative solutions with Chemres’ North American expertise and robust customer portfolio, Benvic is set to deliver unmatched value.
“Like Benvic, Chemres is a top performer in the compounding industry; out‑performing competitors in growth, quality, and client satisfaction,” said Benvic Group CEO Luc Mertens. “Our shared culture of performance and innovation will enable us to develop new business and technical synergies, and provide an exciting strategic opportunity in the U.S. market. We look forward to working closely with Chemres’ management to expand our operations in North America and grow our polymer expertise, especially in the medical sector.”
“Chemres is excited to partner with Benvic to accelerate our growth and deliver additional value for our customers,” added Chemres CEO Paul Keimig. “Benvic’s proven success in similar markets and the desire to use Chemres to grow its U.S. portfolio were key in our decision. Together, Benvic Group, through Chemres, will have unparalleled global capabilities.”
