Icon Explore: Christian Bagg’s Off‑Road Wheelchair Powered by Markforged’s Mark Two
Christian Bagg is an adventurer who has turned a snowboarding accident into a mission to enable others to explore the outdoors.
After becoming a paraplegic, he designed a custom wheelchair that could tackle the same snow‑covered, rugged terrain he loved.

The result is the Icon Explore, an off‑road wheelchair featuring an articulating frame and suspension that lets riders conquer rocky, uneven ground with ease.

Using Markforged’s Mark Two, Bagg rapidly prototyped and tested key components—such as 3‑D‑printed linkages for the steering system and custom mounting hardware—ensuring they could withstand the harsh loads of winter landscapes.

After refining the design, the Icon Explore is now produced with the most advanced parts and is available to camps, resorts, and parks, giving people with mobility challenges the freedom to experience nature independently.

We at Markforged celebrate Christian’s perseverance and are proud to support his vision. Wishing you a joyful holiday season and continued innovation in 2018.
