SKF Secures Integrated Maintenance Solutions Contract with Valero Energy to Cut Costs and Boost Reliability

SKF has entered into a performance‑based Integrated Maintenance Solutions (IMS) agreement with Valero Energy Corporation, the largest refinery operator in North America.

The deal covers the Valero Paulsboro Refinery in Greenwich Township, New Jersey, and extends the use of performance‑based contracts from mechanical seals to pumps. This strategy is designed to significantly reduce annual maintenance expenditures and enhance asset utilization.

Key objectives include lowering the cost of spare parts used in pump repairs, shrinking inventory levels and associated carrying costs, and improving pump uptime. The agreement also expands the availability of Valero’s engineering resources.

Under the contract, SKF will supply one full‑time, on‑site reliability engineer, two full‑time, on‑site reliability technicians, and demand resources equivalent to half a man‑year of labor for reliability‑related projects such as training, engineering support, root‑cause failure analysis, and reliability‑centered maintenance. The scope also incorporates a one‑time investment in condition‑monitoring hardware and software.
