US Airways Adopts Airbus AIRMAN for Fleet Maintenance Excellence

Following the proven success of AIRMAN in America West operations, Airbus Customer Services is proud to welcome US Airways’ fleet engineering team as the newest AIRMAN user. Airbus has signed an agreement with the US Airways Group to deploy AIRMAN across its Airbus fleet of more than 200 aircraft.

By becoming the largest user of this real‑time maintenance and troubleshooting tool, US Airways demonstrates its commitment to reducing maintenance and operating costs while enhancing aircraft dispatch reliability.

“Over the last three years, we have reaped the benefits of the AIRMAN tool on the former America West fleet,” said Scott Hutson, senior manager of Engineering and Technical Center at US Airways. “Recognizing AIRMAN’s potential, we will add over 100 aircraft in early 2007, bringing the total to more than 200 aircraft monitored and evaluated by AIRMAN. Today’s announcement solidifies our commitment to continuously improve aircraft reliability for our customers. We look forward to maintaining our strong relationship with Airbus and the AIRMAN Support Team.”

“Airbus Customer Services is delighted to have US Airways’ Airbus operation as the largest AIRMAN user,” said Patrick Gavin, Executive Vice President, Airbus Customer Services. “We look forward to supporting them and further enhancing the success of US Airways’ maintenance operations.”

AIRMAN is Airbus’ real‑time health‑monitoring platform that empowers operators to optimize line maintenance and troubleshooting. As part of Air+ by Airbus—a comprehensive suite of products and services for fleet operations optimization—AIRMAN delivers significant savings in maintenance and operations by preventing delays and cancellations, thereby improving aircraft dispatch reliability.

The latest version (V9) of AIRMAN was released at the end of November 2006. It incorporates new features that further increase the efficiency of Maintenance Control Centres and line maintenance teams. AIRMAN is now selected by 84 airlines and monitors more than 2,000 aircraft worldwide.

US Airways, the result of the merger between America West and US Airways in September 2005, operates the world’s largest Airbus fleet of 205 aircraft, spanning single‑aisle and wide‑body models. Headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, with major hubs in Phoenix, Charlotte, and Philadelphia, US Airways employs nearly 35,000 aviation professionals globally. The airline operates approximately 3,800 flights per day, serving more than 230 communities across the United States, Canada, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America. As a member of the Star Alliance, US Airways connects passengers to 841 destinations in 157 countries worldwide.
