SMRP Invites Professionals to Shape the CMRP Body of Knowledge
SMRP is inviting the maintenance and reliability community to review the Body of Knowledge that underpins the Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) exam. Participants can rate and comment on the job tasks that define competence in this field by completing the online survey at www.smrp.org/BoKsurvey.
The Body of Knowledge is periodically updated to stay current and complete. Your input—whether you’re a practitioner or an industry stakeholder—helps validate the latest edition and ensures it reflects real‑world practice.
What the CMRP Exam Covers
Survey respondents will evaluate the tasks and functions that the CMRP exam tests, and help prioritize their importance. The tasks are grouped into five categories:
- Business and Management
- Production Process Reliability
- Equipment Reliability
- Organization and Leadership
- Work Management
Use the survey to identify professional development opportunities that can enhance your performance and that of your organization. The survey is open through March 2008, but the link will remain active indefinitely to collect ongoing public input.
Accredited Certification Program
The CMRP exam is developed and administered by the SMRP Certifying Organization, which holds accreditation from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines for certifying activities. This distinction sets SMRP apart from other maintenance and reliability certification bodies.
The CMRP exam has become the international benchmark for competence in maintenance and reliability. Over 3,000 exams have been administered to professionals in 21 countries, and approximately 2,000 have successfully passed.
By Practitioners, For Practitioners
SMRP is an independent, not‑for‑profit professional society founded by practitioners for practitioners. It is dedicated to fostering excellence in maintenance and reliability across all manufacturing and service organizations, and to promoting best practices worldwide.
SMRP hosts meetings and educational workshops throughout the year. The 16th annual conference will take place October 20‑23, 2008 in Cleveland.
