Mark Carlos Named Chairman of ASTM’s E07 Committee on Non‑Destructive Testing

MISTRAS Group Inc. announced on February 23 that Mark Carlos will serve as chairman of ASTM International’s E07 Committee on Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT).

ASTM International is a worldwide volunteer organization that brings together producers, users, end‑customers and other stakeholders to develop consensus standards for materials, products, systems and services.

The E07 Committee currently oversees 175 NDT standards, published in Volume 03.03 of the Annual Book of ASTM Standards. With 12 technical subcommittees, the committee maintains standards that are central to both traditional and emerging NDT techniques—including thermal, visual, radiology (X‑ray, gamma, neutron), liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, acoustic emission, ultrasonics, electromagnetics, leak testing, and reference radiological imaging.

Mark Carlos has been an active ASTM member for more than two decades, advancing from chair of the E07.04 Acoustic Emission Subcommittee (a role he still holds) to secretary, vice‑chairman, and now chairman of the full committee. “Standards play a large role in the Non‑Destructive Testing business,” he said. “I am happy to be a part of ASTM and contribute to the professional growth of the NDT industry.”
