GE Unveils the Portable DXR250V: Revolutionizing Digital Radiography in the Field
Weighing just 13 lb (6 kg), the GE DXR250V is the industry’s newest lightweight, portable digital radiography solution. Its compact size and low weight break the traditional barrier that has confined digital radiography (DR) to bulky, stationary equipment, enabling shorter shot times, lower radiation exposure and the elimination of chemical processing in environments that once relied on computed radiography or film.
‘The DXR250V makes the advantages of digital radiography—clean chemistry, rapid image acquisition and reduced radiation dose—available across a far wider range of applications,’ said Shana Telesz, product manager at GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies. ‘Enabling digital imaging in locations where it was previously impossible marks a significant milestone in the transition from film to digital.’
The detector features a 200µm pixel pitch and a 16 in × 16 in (41 cm × 41 cm) active area, one of the largest in its class. When paired with GE’s Rhythm DR acquisition software, inspectors can capture multiple frames, average them to suppress noise, and view a sharp, premium image directly on a laptop. Rhythm also offers on‑site reporting, remote review through a Rhythm Review station, and long‑term storage with Rhythm Archive. The DXR250V outputs DICOM‑conformant data that includes technique parameters, location, date, time and the inspector’s identity, while its solid‑state design eliminates moving parts for minimal maintenance.
Field inspections in oil & gas, aerospace, power generation and other sectors can now benefit from instant, high‑quality digital imaging in the field. For more information, visit www.gesensinginspection.com.
