Alabama Aircraft Industries Extends UAW Local 1155 Agreement for 3 Years, Maintaining Pay & Benefits
On February 10, Alabama Aircraft Industries Inc. (AAII) announced that it and the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) Local 1155 have renewed their collective bargaining agreement for an additional three years, extending it through March 21, 2013. The extension preserves all existing wages and benefits, allowing AAII to manage costs while pursuing new business opportunities.
“We are very pleased that the UAW has agreed to partner with us in fighting for the future of our company and our 800 employees,” said Ron Aramini, president and CEO. “They understand the competition we face and are willing to stand with us to meet this challenge and move the company forward steadily. With uncertainties surrounding the KC‑135 contract, we have had to take decisive measures to secure our future, and the UAW will be instrumental in helping us navigate a tough economy and a demanding defense‑industry spending environment.”
Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, AAII specializes in aircraft maintenance and modification for the U.S. government, as well as for foreign and domestic clients. The company also supplies aircraft parts, offers support services, and provides engineering expertise.
