Eaton Expands Hydraulics Footprint with Tuthill Coupling Acquisition
Diversified industrial powerhouse Eaton Corporation announced on December 16 that it has agreed to acquire the Tuthill Coupling Group, a division of Tuthill Corporation. While the financial terms were not disclosed, the deal signals Eaton’s commitment to strengthening its fluid conveyance capabilities.
The Tuthill Coupling Group specializes in pneumatic and hydraulic quick‑coupling solutions and leak‑free connectors across industries such as construction, mining, defense, energy, and power. For the 12 months ending November 30 2010, the division generated roughly $35 million in sales and employs about 220 professionals in Berea, Ohio, and Annemasse, France.
"Tuthill Coupling is a great fit with Eaton’s hydraulics business," said William R. VanArsdale, president of Eaton’s Hydraulics Group. "This acquisition provides us with a more complete fluid conveyance coupling product portfolio for our customers and strengthens Eaton’s regional presence to better serve key market segments."
Eaton is a global technology leader in power management, offering electrical components and systems for power quality, distribution, and control; hydraulics components and services for industrial and mobile equipment; aerospace fuel and hydraulic systems for commercial and military use; and drivetrain and powertrain solutions for automotive and truck applications. With 70,000 employees and operations in over 150 countries, Eaton reported $11.9 billion in sales in 2009.
