GE Launches Predix Cloud: Dedicated Platform for Industrial Data & Analytics

GE has announced the launch of Predix Cloud, a cloud services platform specifically engineered for industrial data and analytics.

Predix Cloud is a platform‑as‑a‑service (PaaS) that ingests and analyzes the high‑volume, high‑velocity, and highly varied machine data generated by industrial assets, all within a secure, industrial‑grade cloud environment.

The platform is designed to accelerate the next wave of the Industrial Internet, giving developers the tools to build, deploy, and manage applications that unlock new value for factories, fleets, and entire supply chains.

“A cloud built exclusively to capture and analyze machine data will make unforeseen problems and missed opportunities increasingly a complication of the past,” said Harel Kodesh, vice president at GE Software. “GE’s Predix Cloud will unlock an industrial app economy that delivers more value to machines, fleets and factories, and enable a thriving developer community to collaborate and rapidly deploy industrial applications in a highly protected environment.”

By blending GE’s deep expertise in IT and OT, Predix Cloud offers advanced features such as asset connectivity, machine‑learning‑ready data pipelines, and industry‑specific security and compliance controls.

GE will begin migrating internal software and analytics workloads to Predix Cloud in late 2015, with the service slated for commercial launch to external customers in 2016.
