MicroSys & Hailo Launch High‑Performance Edge AI Platform for Industrial & Automotive Applications

MicroSys Electronics and AI‑chipmaker Hailo have unveiled the miriac AIP‑LX2160A, an edge‑server grade platform that can host up to five Hailo‑8 AI accelerator modules. The solution delivers high‑performance, scalable inference at the edge, enabling power‑efficient AI for Industry 4.0, automotive, and heavy‑machinery workloads.

Unmatched Performance Powered by NXP QorIQ Layerscape

The platform is built on NXP’s QorIQ Layerscape LX2160A, a high‑throughput processor that, when paired with multiple Hailo‑8 accelerators, reaches up to 130 TOPS. Across standard neural‑network benchmarks, it achieves over 6 000 fps on ResNet‑50, more than 5 000 fps on MobileNet‑V1 SSD, and nearly 1 000 fps on YOLOv5m.

Hailo‑8: A 26‑TOPS, 2.5 W Edge Processor

Winner of the 2021 Edge AI & Vision Alliance “Best AI and Vision Processor” award, the automotive‑grade Hailo‑8 delivers up to 26 TOPS while consuming only 2.5 W. Combined with MicroSys’s Cortex‑based Layerscape boards, the platform offers an efficient AI edge appliance for situational awareness and predictive‑maintenance analytics.
