Wittmann Battenfeld Unveils New X Series and Primus 14 Robots
Wittmann Battenfeld has expanded its robot portfolio with two distinct lines: the premium X Series and the cost‑effective Primus 14. The X Series, built on the proven Pro line, now features the updated R9 controller launched last fall. The R9 maintains the familiar programming interface of the R8, but its pendant boasts a larger, lighter display, gesture‑controlled operation akin to a tablet, and ergonomic membrane keys for essential commands.
The Primus 14 enters Wittmann’s budget‑friendly servo line, targeting straightforward pick‑and‑place tasks on injection presses rated 50–150 tons. Its horizontal reach spans 900–2000 mm, vertical stroke up to 1000 mm, and demolding stroke 440 mm. A streamlined cable‑management system lets the robot nest inside the press frame. Equipped with the R8 controller, the Primus 14 lifts up to 2 kg (4.4 lb) – the same payload as the slightly larger Primus 16, which can handle 5 kg (11 lb).
