EdgeLock 2GO: Secure, Lifecycle‑Managed IoT Connectivity for Edge Devices

Securing edge devices extends far beyond initial provisioning and cloud connection—continuous management throughout the product’s lifecycle is essential in any IoT ecosystem.

To meet this demand, NXP Semiconductors unveiled the EdgeLock 2GO IoT service platform, delivering simple, secure deployment and ongoing management of edge devices and services. The platform is built on NXP’s Common Criteria (CC) EAL 6+ certified EdgeLock SE050 secure element, safeguarding edge devices and enabling trusted connectivity to one or more clouds and service providers.

EdgeLock 2GO lets device manufacturers and service providers seamlessly onboard or migrate their devices to cloud platforms such as AWS IoT and Microsoft Azure IoT Hub. This integration empowers OEMs and providers to monitor, manage, and analyze field data from their devices.

By combining certified hardware and a managed service, EdgeLock 2GO decouples security from device manufacturers and supply chains through a trusted anchor. The EdgeLock SE050 delivers robust cryptographic protection, while EdgeLock 2GO streamlines secure cloud onboarding and multi‑cloud access, simplifying application credential management with zero‑touch connectivity to public and private clouds, edge‑computing platforms, and infrastructure.

EdgeLock 2GO supports a wide range of credential types and is compatible with any IoT device—from simple sensors to sophisticated edge‑computing platforms—allowing tailored rollout options. This flexibility accelerates time‑to‑market and enables late‑stage configuration in the field, while also allowing dynamic multi‑cloud connectivity.

The IoT service platform offers three tailored options so customers can manage credentials in the way that best fits their needs:

Many IoT deployments remain in the field for years, raising the challenge of maintaining security over time. EdgeLock 2GO addresses this by removing the burden of key and certificate management from manufacturers. It simplifies the ongoing maintenance of large IoT fleets, making it easy to update, revoke, or add device credentials across multiple cloud services.

Philippe Dubois, VP and GM of Secure Edge Identification at NXP Semiconductors, stated: “EdgeLock 2GO offers a full spectrum of choices that optimize credential and device‑management costs while delivering advanced security for IoT operators. The platform’s flexible approach protects edge devices and maintains their security throughout their lifecycle.”

Kristin Carr, GM of Azure IoT Platform Engineering at Microsoft, added: “Ease of use, flexibility, and security underpin device management in Azure IoT Hub, enabling reliable communication between applications and devices. EdgeLock 2GO streamlines device registration into Azure IoT Hub’s Device Provisioning Service, eliminating identity‑management overhead.”
