Hyperstone X1 SSD Controller: Low‑Power, Industrial‑Grade 3D Flash Performance

Hyperstone has unveiled the X1, a new SATA III SSD controller engineered to meet stringent industrial demands. The X1 targets high‑reliability, low‑power SSDs—including M.2, U.2, CFast cards and eSSDs or discrete on‑board flash—by leveraging a cutting‑edge hyMap sub‑page flash translation layer. This design delivers exceptional random write performance, reduces write amplification, and offers superior endurance without the need for external DRAM.

The controller’s FlashXE read‑channel, featuring calibration, soft‑decoding error correction, and proactive error‑prevention, supports a broad spectrum of NAND types—from SLC and pSLC to 3D MLC, 3D TLC, and the next‑generation flash. Built‑in hyReliability flash management ensures meticulous wear leveling, read‑disturb mitigation, and robust power‑fail protection. Additional safeguards—including radiation‑resistant, soft‑error mitigation, end‑to‑end data path protection, SRAM ECC, and a low‑alpha package—enable reliable operation even under the most extreme conditions. The X1 delivers up to 550 MB/s transfer speeds and provides comprehensive health‑monitoring data beyond standard S.M.A.R.T., coupled with lifetime‑estimation tools.

The X1 will launch in 144‑ball TFBGA (10.4 × 10.4 × 1.1 mm) and 124‑ball TFBGA (9 × 9 × 1.2 mm) packages, qualified for an industrial temperature range of –40 °C to +85 °C. Mass‑production samples and firmware are already available.
