AMS Launches AS621x Series: Ultra‑Low‑Power, High‑Accuracy Temperature Sensors in a Tiny Package

AMS introduces the AS621x family of temperature sensors, delivering precise readings and ultra‑low power in a compact wafer‑level chip‑scale package (WLCSP). The new series supports a reduced supply voltage of 1.71 V and offers eight distinct I²C addresses, enabling designers to monitor up to eight hotspots simultaneously—an ideal feature for rapid prototyping and complex IoT architectures.

With a footprint identical to its predecessor (1.5 × 1 mm WLCSP), the AS621x consumes only 6 µA at a measurement rate of four samples per second—making it perfect for battery‑powered or space‑constrained IoT devices. The sensors come factory‑calibrated with an industry‑standard serial interface, eliminating the need for additional calibration steps during PCB assembly.

Available in three accuracy tiers—±0.2 °C (AS6212), ±0.4 °C (AS6214), and ±0.8 °C (AS6218)—the AS621x provides 16‑bit temperature resolution for heightened sensitivity. Its versatility spans consumer electronics, wearables, health‑monitoring systems, and HVAC control.

To support rapid development, AMS offers an evaluation board and detailed pricing information here. The complete digital solution allows designers to simply solder the sensor onto the PCB and immediately obtain reliable temperature data.
