Microchip Introduces 24‑bit & 16‑bit Delta‑Sigma ADCs with 153.6 kSPS Data Rates
The high‑precision market demands ADCs that combine speed, accuracy, and integration. Microchip’s latest MCP356x (24‑bit) and MCP346x (16‑bit) delta‑sigma families deliver programmable data rates up to 153.6 kSPS—significantly faster than most competitors—while maintaining low noise and high accuracy. Packaged in a compact 3 mm × 3 mm UQFN‑20, these devices are ideal for space‑constrained instruments, from portable test rigs to field‑deployable sensors.
Unlike typical high‑resolution ADCs that max out at a few kSPS, the MCP356x and MCP346x families support multiple channel configurations: 2, 4, or 8 single‑ended channels, or 1, 2, or 4 differential channels. This flexibility lets designers choose the exact resolution and speed profile for applications ranging from industrial process control and factory automation to precision sensor transducers and transmitters.
Each ADC integrates key peripherals—an internal oscillator, a temperature sensor, and a burnout current source—eliminating the need for external parts and reducing system cost and footprint.
