Kontron S&T Acquires Fujitsu’s Industrial Mainboard Business
Kontron S&T, a subsidiary of the German technology group S&T, has completed an asset acquisition of Fujitsu Technology Solutions’ industrial mainboard division, headquartered in Augsburg, Germany.
In a move announced last October, Fujitsu confirmed the planned closure of its Augsburg site by the end of September 2020. The transition of the operational business to Kontron is scheduled to begin in October 2019, and the deal is currently awaiting antitrust clearance.
This acquisition represents a strategic expansion for Kontron, allowing it to integrate its advanced IoT software stack with Fujitsu’s proven embedded motherboard technology. Kontron will also absorb a skilled workforce from Fujitsu, offering roles in research & development, production, and sales to preserve continuity and expertise for existing customers.
“We remain committed to delivering the same high level of technical support and product quality that Fujitsu’s mainboard customers have come to expect,” said a Kontron spokesperson.
