AAEON Launches BOXER‑8170AI: A Rugged NVIDIA Jetson TX2‑Powered Edge AI Platform

AAEON proudly introduces the BOXER‑8170AI, a cutting‑edge embedded AI@Edge solution built around NVIDIA’s powerful Jetson TX2. Designed for demanding industrial environments, it delivers robust performance, reliable connectivity, and unparalleled flexibility for next‑generation AI applications.

At its core, the BOXER‑8170AI houses the Jetson TX2 SOC, featuring a six‑core architecture that blends Dual Denver 2 and Quad ARM 57 cores into a single chip. With up to 256 CUDA cores, 8 GB LPDDR4 memory, and 32 GB eMMC storage, it delivers the compute density needed for real‑time inference across a wide array of frameworks—including TensorFlow, Caffe, and third‑party inference engines.

Connectivity is a cornerstone of the design. Four PoE‑enabled LAN ports—each powered by its own dedicated controller—provide up to 60 W of output per port, allowing individual PoE cameras to run on isolated, high‑bandwidth links. This architecture supports use cases such as smart retail, virtual fencing, access control, and any scenario that demands reliable, isolated camera streams.

The platform’s I/O portfolio is equally comprehensive: four USB 3.0 ports for additional peripherals, two COM ports for serial integration, two HDMI outputs, remote power control, a Gigabit Ethernet jack, and dual antenna connectors for wireless networking or AI‑of‑Things gateway deployments. An SD‑card slot and USB OTG support streamline maintenance and software upgrades.

Engineered for the harshest conditions, the BOXER‑8170AI is fanless and housed in an all‑aluminum chassis that shields it from dust, vibration, and other industrial hazards. It operates reliably from –20 °C to 50 °C and accepts a wide input voltage range of 12 V–24 V DC. With a slim profile of only 48 mm in height, it can be deployed in tight spaces without compromising performance.
