AAEON Launches BOXER-8300AI Series: Edge AI Powered by Intel Movidius Myriad X

AAEON has unveiled the BOXER-8300AI Series, comprising the BOXER-8310AI, BOXER-8320AI, and the upcoming BOXER-8330AI slated for Q4 2019. These compact, fanless edge PCs harness Intel Movidius Myriad X for high‑performance AI and edge computing.

At the heart of the series lies AAEON’s AI Core X module, which integrates the Intel Movidius Myriad X VPU. The Myriad X delivers peak performance of up to 105 fps (80 fps typical) and 1 TOPS dedicated neural‑network throughput, while an advanced thermal design keeps the VPU operating at higher temperatures without compromising performance.

The BOXER-8310AI targets entry‑level users with a fanless chassis and a choice of Intel Pentium N4200 or Celeron N3350 CPUs, up to 8 GB RAM, and a single AI Core X module. It is ideal for applications such as traffic monitoring, people counting, or smart retail, and can operate reliably from –20 °C to 55 °C thanks to its thermal management.

The BOXER-8320AI elevates performance with a 7th‑Generation Intel Core i3 Mobile Processor and dual AI Core X modules, reaching up to 210 fps (160 fps typical). Its DIN‑rail mount and fanless design make it suitable for industrial control cabinets, while the advanced thermal architecture supports environments from –20 °C to 60 °C. This configuration enables high‑performance AI workloads like smart security and facial recognition.

Across the series, users benefit from native compatibility with Intel’s OpenVINO Toolkit, enabling inference on TensorFlow, Caffe, or custom models. Expandable storage, Linux/Ubuntu support, and modular memory upgrades make the BOXER-8300AI series versatile, and optional wireless cards (Wi‑Fi, 4G, Bluetooth) can be added as needed.
