The appliance is engineered for demanding network workloads—including Unified Threat Management, Software‑Defined Networking, and Network Function Virtualization. Each 2nd‑Generation Xeon Scalable core is a high‑performance unit; the FWS‑8600 ships with a dual‑CPU configuration that can deliver up to 40 cores. It also offers four lockable hard‑drive bays, 16 DDR4 memory slots, and support for up to 512 GB of RDIMM ECC RAM.

In AAEON’s testing, the FWS‑8600 achieves LAN throughput of 300–400 Gbps—roughly ten times the speed of typical appliances.
