AAEON Unveils AI Core XP4 & XP8: Scalable PCIe AI Acceleration with Intel Movidius Myriad X

AAEON introduces the AI Core XP4 and XP8, PCIe x4 modules that harness Intel Movidius Myriad X VPUs to deliver high‑performance, scalable AI inference for PC‑based applications.

While many PCs can run AI workloads, the required computations often strain the CPU, slowing inference and other concurrent tasks. The XP4 and XP8 offload neural‑network processing, accelerating inference and freeing the CPU for essential operations.

Each XP4 contains four Myriad X VPUs, and each XP8 houses eight. A single VPU supports up to 105 frames per second (typically 80 fps) and can perform up to 1 trillion floating‑point operations per second. Combined, the XP8 can achieve up to 840 fps (560 fps typical), providing unparalleled throughput for demanding AI workloads.

Unique among PCIe AI cards, the XP4 and XP8 are built from two to four AI Core XM 2280 modules, offering four M.2 slots for additional modules. Users can add an XM 2280 to an XP4 to gain six VPUs, or scale an XP8 to 12 VPUs, adapting power to evolving needs without replacing the entire card.

This modular design gives developers the flexibility to tailor performance to their workloads, ensuring efficient resource allocation and future‑proofing AI deployments.
