Teijin Unveils Dedicated Website Highlighting Its Sustainable Mobility Initiatives
Strengthening its position in the automotive industry as it develops medium- and long-term opportunities in the field, Teijin Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan) has announced the launch of the Teijin Sustainable Mobility website. With this platform, the group expects to be able to comprehensively introduce the company’s initiatives toward sustainability, including its partnership with the Formula E (all-electric) racing team, Envision Virgin Racing Formula E Team based at Silverstone Park, U.K. and its automotive technologies and solutions engineered to reduce environmental impact.
The new, bilingual (English/Japanese) website also is said to provide convenient links to the Teijin business groups focused on the following technologies:
- Teijin Aramid B.V. (Arnhem, Netherlands): Tires, hoses, brake pads and transmissions
- Continental Structural Plastics Holdings Corp. (CSP, Auburn Hills, Mich., U.S.): Battery enclosures, pickup boxes and body panels
- J.H. Ziegler GmbH (Baden-Württemberg, Germany): Nonwovens for high-quality car seats and nonwoven acoustic absorbers
To ensure relevance for automotive industry stakeholders, the website’s design and content were developed through consultation with members of Teijin’s group companies in Japan, the U.S. and Europe. In the future, the Teijin Sustainable Mobility website will be further enhanced with new content, including solutions for polycarbonate resin glazing and carbon fiber.
Teijin has a long-term vision of becoming a company that supports the society of the future and has established long-term goals for internal net-zero emissions by fiscal 2050. With an aim to significantly reduce CO2 emissions across its entire supply chain, the company says it will make the amount of avoided emissions by use of its products larger than actual emissions group-wide and its upstream supply chain by 2030.
In line with this, Teijin and its partners have been working with Envision Virgin Racing to develop lightweight, high-performance automotive components, leveraging the freedom of design that will be required for next-generation mobility. Teijin is also using initiative to raise awareness of its brand in the automotive world.
