DIN 1725-1 Grade 3.3326 H14 – High-Strength Marine-Grade Magnesium Alloy

The alloy is characterised by a good corrosion resistance. It is sea water steady and resistant to saline atmosphere. The Mg content increases the strength, but the cold forming capacity decreases. The material is nature hard, i.e. only by a cold forming and not by a purposeful heat treatment a strength increase can be attained. It is well polishable and anodisable. The splinter-giving machinability becomes better with increasing Mg content, just as the weldability. From the AlMg alloys the mark AlMg1,5 has to exhibit only relatively small mechanical properties. Standardised semi-finished material only for tubes in accordance to DIN 1746 and for extruded profiles according to DIN 1748. Application: Ferrules for wires rope in accordance to DIN 3093. In the civil engineering for carrying constructions, for transport containers. In electro-technology for antennas and parabolic reflectors.
