Thermwood Expands LSAM Line: New 15‑ft Wide Dual‑Gantry Additive Systems
Thermwood Corp. (Dale, Ind., U.S.), has expanded the available sizes for its LSAM large-scale thermoplastic composite additive systems. In particular, the large dual gantry print and trim machines are now available in a 15 ft width in addition to the current 10-ft-width tables. As with the latter, the 15-ft-wide table machines are available in lengths from a minimum of 20 ft on, in 10-ft increments.
According to Thermwood, this new machine incorporate the new wide gantry design that was first developed for Thermwood’s LSAM 1010, which includes both a print head and a trim head mounted on a single gantry.
The 15-foot-width LSAM system is also supplied with a large LSAM print head structure which can be equipped with a 40-mm or 60-mm print core. The 40-mm core can print most polymers at about 200 Ib/h while the 60-mm core is said to be able to print at more than 500 Ib/h. Thermwood’s patented Vertical Layer Print system, may also be added, enabling the system to print parts up to 15 ft wide, and as tall as the length of the table. Further, three print head options are available, with maximum print rates of 100, 200 and more than 500 Ib/h.
Like Thermwood’s other LSAM systems, the 15-ft-width table machines machines are also equipped with all available advanced features, including the thermal sensor layer automation system which automatically controls bead temperature at layer fusion.
