Mytex Polymers to Expand Production in Covington, GA, Boosting LGF‑PP Capacity

Engineered polyolefin custom compounder Mytex Polymers—part of Mitsubishi Chemical Corp—announced a $7 million expansion at its 140,000‑sq‑ft facility in Covington, GA. The new production line will increase capacity for long‑glass‑fiber polypropylene (LGF‑PP) compounds and create 15 additional jobs.

Mytex specializes in high‑performance engineered polyolefins for automotive, household, recreational, industrial and packaging applications. Their in‑house R&D team designs, tests and manufactures polymer blends that meet the demanding specifications of each sector.

Mytex is best known for its Funcster pultruded LGF‑PP, a material that has become a standard for structural applications—whether used alone or combined with PVC. In recent years, Funcster has also earned recognition as an appearance‑grade LGF‑PP in the automotive market, thanks to its superior glass dispersion. The material’s role in developing inner liners for composite tailgates has helped manufacturers reduce weight, lower part counts and cut cycle times, while improving cost structures.
