DSM & Nedcam Partner to Advance Large‑Scale FGF 3D Printing
DSM and 3D‑printing specialist Nedcam have joined forces to expand access to scalable Fused Granulate Fabrication (FGF) 3D printing. The partnership will deliver commercial FGF services built on DSM’s optimized pellet materials and will explore new tooling, large‑size, and circular end‑use applications across multiple industries.
Nedcam, a full‑service shaping technology provider, recently installed a CEAD AM Flexbot robotic 3D printer at its Heerenveen, Netherlands site. Leveraging DSM’s material expertise, Nedcam will offer manufacturers rapid‑prototyping and production solutions for large‑volume parts using high‑performance, highly filled polymers.
The collaboration will also focus on developing and testing new materials, processes and applications, targeting sectors such as marine, renewable energy, construction and infrastructure. An active working relationship with Royal HaskoningDHV supports advanced slicing of complex structural elements.
“FGF is a critical technology for manufacturing structural and large‑size components with highly filled polymers at competitive lead times,” said Pieter Leen, Application Development Specialist Additive Manufacturing at DSM. “Nedcam bridges product development and market demand, accelerating additive manufacturing adoption.”
Today, Nedcam’s production of plugs and molds from glass‑fiber‑reinforced composites and steel generates significant waste. Switching to FGF with recyclable materials offers a more sustainable production route.
“We are committed to reducing waste and achieving a fully circular production model,” said Erwin van Maaren, Co‑Founder and Commercial Director at Nedcam. “By combining DSM’s 3D‑printing and thermoplastic expertise with our production capabilities, we’re taking concrete steps toward sustainability.”
