Agilyx & NextChem Forge Global Partnership to Scale Advanced Chemical Recycling

Agilyx Corporation, headquartered in Tigard, Oregon, and a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Norway’s pioneering Agilyx AS, has teamed with Italy’s NextChem—an affiliate of the Maire Tecnimont Group—to accelerate the deployment of advanced chemical recycling facilities worldwide. The alliance blends Agilyx’s cutting‑edge pyrolysis platform with NextChem’s proven EPC, licensing, and implementation expertise in plastics recycling.

Under the agreement, NextChem will act as the technology and EPC partner for Agilyx. The partnership aims to expedite the global rollout of chemical recycling plants that convert mixed waste plastics into circular olefins and fuels, leveraging Agilyx’s proprietary pyrolysis technology to restore post‑use plastics to their original chemical components and boost recovery rates beyond conventional recycling limits.

The partnership’s first phase focuses on developing two pilot projects—one in Europe and another in South America. These initiatives will serve as proof‑of‑concept sites, demonstrating the scalability and economic viability of the technology. Additionally, the agreement opens avenues for co‑investment in select projects, accelerating the broader commercial pipeline.

“We are proud to bring Agilyx into our portfolio and expand our suite of circular‑economy solutions, which already includes upcycling, waste‑to‑chemicals, waste‑to‑fuels, polymerization and now thermochemical conversion (pyrolysis),” said Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Maire Tecnimont Group and NextChem. “Our commitment is to deliver sustainable plastics solutions across the life‑cycle and enable a low‑carbon, circular economy.”
