3D Printing: Transforming Everyday Life Through Rapid Design, Production, and Repair

3D Printing, or additive manufacturing, builds objects layer by layer from a digital design. Unlike traditional subtractive methods, it delivers rapid prototyping, mass customization, and streamlined supply chains, reducing waste and lead times.

From prosthetics in medicine to architectural models, 3DP is already a key player in industries that demand speed and flexibility. Its impact is growing from a third industrial revolution to an everyday necessity.

Kanika 3D Design Lab, based in Indore, uses Mumbai‑based DBZ’s Accucraft i250+ 3D Printer to produce high‑quality parts. They recently replaced the broken legs of a centre table with custom‑designed, 3D‑printed legs.

A single table that sat unused due to damaged legs now operates with stronger, uniquely shaped supports. Traditional methods—dies, molds, CNC machining—would have been costly and time‑consuming. By designing the legs in CAD and printing them, Kanika cut lead time by ~70% and costs by ~60%.
