CES 2019 Highlights: Cutting-Edge 3D Printing, Robotics, and New Materials
Last week, we joined more than 4,000 exhibitors and 200,000 attendees at the world’s largest technology trade show: the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. From robots and drones to virtual and augmented reality, the event showcased the very best in innovation. CES offered the perfect stage to present our newest materials, share customer success stories, and engage with industry leaders eager to explore the future of 3D printing.
New Customer Demos
We unveiled several exciting customer applications that demonstrate the versatility of our technology.

Clyde, a child crash‑test dummy from Humanetics, was a highlight at our booth. Humanetics partners with top automotive and aerospace firms, and Clyde’s construction—reinforced ribs, arms, legs, and neck with continuous carbon fiber and Kevlar—allows him to endure multiple crash tests and be reused repeatedly.

Lean Machine’s 3‑D‑printed composite vise and soft‑jaw system also captured attention. The Canada‑based metal fabrication shop needed a low‑profile vise for cutting long metal beams on their CNC machine. Their solution—a fully functional 3‑D‑printed composite vise and soft jaws—securely grips cantilevered ends, showcasing the practical benefits of additive manufacturing.

The star of the show was Haddington Dynamics’ Dexter 7‑axis robot arm. Inventor Kent Gilson was on hand to answer questions while demonstrating Dexter’s precise pick‑and‑place capabilities. Haddington Dynamics supplies open‑source robot arms and kits to clients such as NASA, reinforcing our reputation as a trusted partner in robotics innovation.
We’re always excited to hear how our products help customers succeed. If you have an impressive part, share it on social media and tag us—we’d love to showcase your work.
New Material
We introduced our latest metal material, H13 Tool Steel, and showcased our Metal X printer in action. Our roadmap now includes Inconel 625, A2 Tool Steel, D2 Tool Steel, Titanium, and many more materials, expanding the possibilities for high‑performance additive manufacturing.

While additive manufacturing was a niche at CES a few years ago, the 3‑D printer section exploded this year with innovative techniques and new applications. We remain optimistic that the industry will continue to grow, making industrial 3‑D printers accessible worldwide.
